Cyril Desperes secured his fourth win in Dakar this year, as he became one of the great’s completing the 9000km race.
Desperes spend every minute of the race this year with team mate and closest rival Marc Coma as the pair battled for the top spot.
After a slow start saw the Frenchman in 13th place after stage 1, the terrain changed and saw Desperes perform brilliantly, as he excelled and soaked up intense pressure from Coma with just 21 seconds separating the 2 men.
KTM were the most impressed with the 2 best rally riders on the race, with Desperes win now meaning KTM have won every Dakar since 2001, excluding 2008 when the race was cancelled due to security concerns.
KTM said after the race “this year was a good year for KTM and the battle between Cyril and Marc was one of the tightest and most interesting in the history of the Dakar”
